NEOM, the futuristic sustainable city under development in northwestern Saudi Arabia, recently hosted a major industry event. Over 100 leading construction companies from around the world gathered for a two-day forum held on April 16th, 2024.
The forum served a dual purpose: showcasing NEOM’s ongoing construction progress and attracting top construction firms for upcoming projects. As NEOM enters a new phase of development, securing highly skilled construction partners is crucial.
NEOM’s projects are ambitious, including the 106-mile-long linear city, THE LINE, which is being built in stages. The first residents are expected to arrive in THE LINE by 2030.
The forum emphasized the need for innovation in construction methods to meet the unique scale and complexity of NEOM’s vision. Attendees were given a firsthand look at construction progress across NEOM, including THE LINE, the Spine, Oxagon, Trojena, and the NEOM International Airport.
NEOM’s CEO, Nadhmi Al-Nasr, addressed the forum, highlighting the vast opportunities for collaboration: “We are entering NEOM’s busiest development phase ever. With projects progressing rapidly, we’re committed to working with world-class construction companies to achieve our vision.”
The event provided attendees with valuable insights into upcoming projects and business opportunities. They also had the chance to visit construction sites and witness the massive scale of the undertaking firsthand. Additionally, one-on-one meetings facilitated discussions about specific business opportunities, allowing companies to showcase their capabilities.
The forum included participation from a diverse group of firms – both established Saudi Arabian companies and international firms from Asia, Europe, North America, and North Africa. With construction already in full swing across NEOM’s vast territory, the current workforce of over 140,000 is expected to grow to over 200,000 by next year, thanks in part to the companies that participated in the forum.
