In a press release, Red Sea Global (RSG) announced the upcoming opening of Shura Links, a golf course and clubhouse on Shura Island, in 2025. This unique destination boasts the distinction of being Saudi Arabia’s first 18-hole golf course and promises stunning views of the marina and the surrounding Red Sea.
Sustainability is a key focus for Shura Links. Developed in collaboration with leading environmental consultants, the course will prioritize water conservation through reduced consumption and innovative irrigation techniques. This commitment aims to minimize environmental impact and contribute to the preservation of natural habitats.
“Shura Links will offer an unparalleled golfing experience in a visually stunning, natural setting,” stated RSG Group CEO John Pagano. He emphasized the dual focus on exceptional experiences and environmental responsibility. The course prioritizes respect for nature through techniques like innovative turf management and careful plant nutrition. Construction on the fairways has already begun, and RSG eagerly anticipates welcoming the first players to this one-of-a-kind course.
The design of the clubhouse reflects the overall Coral Bloom concept for Shura Island, both envisioned by renowned architects Foster and Partners. The clubhouse draws inspiration from the unique flora and fauna of Saudi Arabia.
World-renowned golf architect Brian Curley, designer of the world’s largest golf facility, Mission Hills Golf Club, collaborated on the course layout. The par 72 Shura Links course stretches over 6,858 meters and offers multiple tees per hole, catering to players of all skill levels. Each hole is designed for variety, playability, and lasting memories. The coastline graces holes four through seven, while holes fourteen to eighteen boast breathtaking views of the open sea or channel. The 18th hole concludes with a dramatic finish below the magnificent clubhouse backdrop.
While the course offers beginner-friendly elements like ample teeing space, it also incorporates challenging features suitable for tournament play, potentially opening doors to future major events. Shura Links also boasts a two-acre putting course, projected to be “one of the best in the world.”
