HA’IL, SAUDI ARABIA – Al-Taawoun secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over a spirited Al-Tai side at the Prince Abdul Aziz bin Musa’ed Stadium. The win solidifies their position in the top four of the Saudi Pro League, while Al-Tai remains rooted in the relegation fight.
The match started disastrously for Al-Taawoun as an own goal from Andre Girrotto in the 20th minute gave the home team an early lead. Al-Tai capitalized on the momentum, with Marko Dugandžić doubling their advantage ten minutes later. However, Al-Taawoun displayed their resilience, with Abdulmalek Al-Shammeri pulling one back before halftime.
Al-Taawoun came out determined in the second half, and their persistence paid off when Jao Pedero Perreira found the equalizer. With the match delicately poised, Mohammad Al Kuwaykibi delivered the decisive blow for the visitors, scoring the winning goal for Al-Taawoun.
This victory extends Al-Taawoun’s recent good form. They’ve managed to snag three wins in their last five outings, showcasing a return to their earlier winning ways. On the other hand, Al-Tai will need to find a way to arrest their slump. The loss extends their winless streak and keeps them precariously placed in 16th position, raising concerns about their top-flight status.
