A major development in air travel is set to take place on April 8th, 2024. A direct flight route connecting Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Shanghai, China will be launched. This collaboration between the Saudi Air Connectivity Program (ACP) and China Eastern Airlines aims to significantly improve air travel options between the two nations.

This new route caters to the growing demand for travel between Saudi Arabia and China, fostering not just tourism but also trade, cultural exchange, and overall relations. This initiative aligns perfectly with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a strategic plan to establish the country as a leading aviation hub.

The success of this strategy is evident as Saudi Arabia surpassed its 2030 tourist target of 100 million visitors in 2023, prompting them to set a new ambitious goal of reaching 150 million by 2030.

Flights on this route will operate three times a week using Airbus A330-200 aircraft. This development comes after the launch of similar direct connections between Riyadh-Beijing and Jeddah-Beijing in August 2023.

In essence, this new air link signifies a strategic move by Saudi Arabia to not only strengthen ties with China but also solidify its position as a crucial transportation hub connecting the East and West.
