Facing large crowds, especially during Ramadan, the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina has introduced a new app to help worshippers find prayer spaces with ease. This innovative tool, called “Status of Prayer Places,” provides real-time information on occupancy levels in different areas of the mosque.
Available in Arabic, English, and Urdu, the app utilizes a color-coded system to indicate prayer space availability. Green signifies “available,” yellow means “crowded,” pink indicates “full,” and grey represents “unavailable.” With this information at their fingertips, worshippers can plan their visits and avoid congested areas.

This app goes beyond just navigation. It also streamlines entry and exit from the mosque, further enhancing the overall experience for worshippers. The launch of the app coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, a time when the Prophet’s Mosque sees a surge in visitors.
Authorities are well-prepared to accommodate the influx of worshippers during Ramadan. Over 8.5 million Iftar meals are expected to be distributed for those breaking their fast, and an estimated 2.5 million bottles of Zamzam water will be offered at the mosque throughout the holy month.
