The AlUla Camel Cup returns for its second year, held by the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) with the Saudi Camel Federation. Races will take place in the Old Oasis from April 24th to 27th, 2024.
This year coincides with the Kingdom’s “Year of the Camel,” celebrating these animals’ deep cultural significance and historical role in Saudi Arabia. Winners will compete for impressive cash prizes and trophies, designed to boost participation and elevate the competition’s level.
Officials from the RCU emphasized the AlUla Camel Cup’s importance. Ziad Alsuhaibani, Chief Sports Officer, highlighted the event’s stature in global camel racing and its contribution to Saudi Arabia’s position as a leading destination for heritage sports. Rami AlMoallim, RCU’s Vice President of Destination Management and Marketing, spoke of the Cup’s resonance with Saudi culture and its reflection of the Kingdom’s rich traditions.
