Mecca, Saudi Arabia – In an effort to manage the large crowds that flock to Mecca during Ramadan, Saudi Arabia has implemented a temporary restriction on repeat Umrah performances. This means pilgrims can only perform Umrah once during the holy month.
As Ramadan is traditionally the peak season for Umrah at the Grand Mosque, this new regulation aims to ensure a smoother and safer experience for all pilgrims. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah emphasizes that limiting Umrah repetitions will help alleviate congestion, allowing more people the opportunity to participate in this sacred journey.
This temporary restriction is achieved through the Nusuk platform, the government’s online system for managing Umrah permits. If a pilgrim attempts to book a second Umrah during Ramadan, they will receive a message explaining that repeat Umrah is not allowed to give everyone a fair chance.
This initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to creating a safe and accessible pilgrimage experience for all Muslims visiting the holy sites during Ramadan.
